A suite of premiere tone
Former HOA committee member Anthony Baldery has been appointed head of
music at the 715-pupil Marshland High School at Wisbech in Lincolnshire.
"There is a nice music suite and besides myself there are five peripatetics, so there's a lot to do but there is great potential," he says.
Anthony, who graduated from Huddersfield University with a BMus in 1995, was organist for a time at Gledholt Methodist Church. He occupies no organ post at present but he should not want for practice. A two-manual instrument stands in the school's main hall.
Degrees of difficulty
PAST President William Kay made a flying dash from Norway to Huddersfield
to collect his degree.
His journey was not without problems. It coincided with the first snow of
winter and a strike by university lecturers.
Postlude
TWO first-year music undergraduates at Huddersfield University have taken
posts locally.
Jonathan Leigh from Brighton has been appointed organist of Gledholt Methodist Church and Chris McElroy from Liverpool (an Everton fan) has been appointed assistant at Mirfield Parish Church.
