The Holme Valley is host to a number of fine, small instruments, some original, some transplanted, some rebuilt.
Our March meeting takes the form of an organ safari to a varied trio: The Binns at St Andrew's, Thongsbridge and the Conachers in the parish churches of Netherthong and Upperthong.
We shall be looking for volunteer demonstrators to show the contrasting character of each instrument.
That in Netherthong is very fine, but what of the Binns at Thongsbridge: Is it one of his weaker specimens? We look forward to some lively debate.
We plan to start at 7.30 at Thongsbridge, to reach Netherthong by 8.15 and Upperthong by 9pm. The evening will conclude with fish and chips at Compo's Cafe.
You are welcome to join us for the whole safari, or to drop in along the way. Details from the event organiser, Geoffrey Lockwood: Tel +44 (0)1484 688487.
